THE LABOUR OF PAIN AND JOY

 
The birthing experience can be simultaneously a shattering yet magnificent experience. Two Finnish birth experts – Kirsi, a midwife, and Anna-Riitta, a doula, or birth support person – work to improve birth practices in the hospital and at home. The Labour of Pain and Joy
explores the personal, social and mythical facets of birth through the intimate stories of Kirsi and Anna-Riitta. They experience this earth-shaking event every day and view birth as a natural part of human sexuality.
